Che Voigt, Founder of Sonoma Design Group [which became L3 EO] shares the secret of the successful strategies that lead his company to become a key manufacturer in the defense electronics industry - lessons we can all benefit from.
One of the founders of Sonoma Design Group, Che took over as President in 1999. Through a series of strategic contract wins SDG doubled in size every year. Che led the team to create an effective and focused business plan resulting in a strong outside board of directors and outside investment. The company developed its product and team rapidly and effectively, going from five people in 2000 to almost 100 in just five years. The goal of the business plan was the eventual sale of SDG. Che led the negotiations for the sale of the company and in 2005 SDG was sold to L3 Communications in a very positive acquisition for investors and employees. L3 asked Che lead the new division, L3 Communications, Sonoma EO formed in 2005. Now with more than 200 people, this division of L3 markets, designs, produces and services ultra high performance stabilized imaging systems for governments and prime contractors. These systems have been used on unmanned aircraft systems, manned aircraft, ships, ground vehicles and site specific installations.
